The National Ukrainian Choir was established in February 2023 for Ukrainians who had recently fled war and arrived in Ireland.

They were invited by Local Development Companies to join the choir in their local communities as a wellbeing initiative and an opportunity for socialising.

A new documentary directed by Jessica Leen follows the collaboration between the National Ukrainian Choir and Phil Coulter last year, as they collaborated on a new version of Coulter's classic song Steal Away - watch above.

Originally written by Phil Coulter 41 years ago, the song tells the story of a couple who escape from the Troubles, and offers many parallels with the situation Ukrainians experience today.
