Pick of the Day

Who Do You Think You Are? 9.00pm, BBC One

The long-running family tree series explores the ancestral history of singer Olly Murs.

Though from Essex, Murs is actually a quarter-Latvian. His late grandfather Eddie was from Latvia, but Olly knows very little about this side of the family and wants to find out more.

The singer travels to the circus in Riga, where his great-grandfather Eduard worked.

Olly meets the circus's archivist Elvira Avota, who shows him documents relating to his great-grandfather and his wife Katrine and their extraordinary double act.

At the Latvian State Archives, historian Daina Bleiere shows him documents that relate to his great-grandmother.

Olly discovers that in 1951 Veronika was put on trial, accused of making 'anti-Soviet' statements.

Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, 8.00pm, BBC Two

There’s a very impressive setting for this week's stop as Rob Rinder and Monica Galetti (below) travel to Turkey to work at Argos in Cappadocia, a hotel built into a network of ancient caves.

Combining history with modern luxury, Monica finds herself brushing cave ceilings with housekeeping before flying above in a hot air balloon, while Rob helps with the finishing touches of a new spa.

With each room providing surprises and inviting curiosity, Rob seeks further education on the history of the caves as Monica practises centuries-old traditional cooking techniques.

This week’s episode charts the historical interior restoration of Castle Ward (below), located on the southern shores of Strangford Lough in County Down.

It was built in the 1760s by Bernard Ward and his wife Lady Anne Ward.

House manager Kris Reid has tracked down a portrait of Lady Anne to return her presence to the house, while the rest of the team unbox a mid-1800s' military uniform for display.

Taskmaster, 9.00pm, Channel 4

More fun and games as Jack Dee has a dramatic change of wardrobe and Rosie Jones presents her new baby.

Also, Babatunde Aléshé attaches ducks to his fingers, Andy Zaltzman starts seeing chickens, and Emma Sidi can't stop thinking about Tamzin Outhwaite.

As ever, Alex Horne sets the tasks and Greg Davies decides the winners.

New to Stream

A Very Royal Scandal, Prime Video

There’s already been one drama about the notorious BBC television interview of Prince Andrew by Emily Maitlis, so this seems a tad unnecessary.

On the other hand, the lead roles are filled by Ruth Wilson and Michael Sheen, so it’s got to be worth a look.

Agatha All Along, Disney+

In this two-episode launch, Kathryn Hahn stars as the infamous Agatha Harkness, who finds herself powerless after a suspicious goth Teen breaks her free from a distorted spell.

Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards witches with what they need.

Together, Agatha and the Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Netflix

Following the success of Dahmer, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series returns.

This time it's chronicling the case of the real-life brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise 'Kitty’ Menendez.

While the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed otherwise.

They remain adamant to this day - as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole - that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story dives into the historic case that took the world by storm, paved the way for audiences’ modern-day fascination with true crime, and in return asks its audience: Who are the real monsters?

Zack Snyder’s Twight of The Gods, Netflix

Here’s an all-new daring and spectacular animated vision of Norse mythology.

In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds and great despair, Leif, a mortal King, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid, an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love.

On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor, which sets them - and a crew of crusaders - on an against all odds and merciless mission for vengeance.

This heroic story of love, loss and revenge, is a journey to Hell and beyond… across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against Gods and demons.

The Queen of Villains, Netflix

This Japanese drama series tells the unknown story of Dump Matsumoto, a professional wrestler who spurred the women’s professional wrestling boom with her cult-like popularity and took Japan by storm in the 1980s.

Nagayo Chigusa and Lioness Asuka are the members of Crush Gals, a Japanese pro-wrestling tag-team duo who became the pop icon by dominating the television bringing the social phenomenon.

Tonight it’s Atalanta v Arsenal (KO 8pm) as Joanne Cantwell presents all the action from both teams' opening match in the league phase, held at the redeveloped Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

Atalanta won the UEFA Europa League last term with a stunning 3-0 win at the Aviva in Dublin over a Bayer Leverkusen side aiming for an unbeaten campaign in the final.

But Gasperini’s side has had a poor start to their Serie A campaign, and both Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca are currently sidelined through injury.

They face a tough test against the more settled London side, who were runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League for the second season running and last time out reached the quarter-finals of this competition.

With analysis from Richie Sadlier.

Over on Virgin Media Two, there's coverage of Monaco v Barcelona (KO 8pm), in the principality's small but beautiful Stade Louis II.
