Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm a Luthier (building and repairing musical instruments). I'm a self-taught producer and produce my own music. I'm a martial artist. I started training in several different martial arts as a teenager and it helped shape me. It taught me great lessons that I still use to this day and continues to serve me through life.

How would you describe your music?

Heartfelt and real. I try to tell the truth and express the inner conflict of the human heart, whether it's a happy, sad or an angry song etc. I try to be real and aim for the heart. A unique blend of intimate country folk, americana and rock influences with recurring themes of hope, desire, love and struggle.

Who are your musical inspirations?

The Frames, Bob Dylan, R.E.M. Eddie Vedder, Tom Waits, John Prine. Bob Dylan was the biggest influence in terms of actually starting to write music, the first time I listened to blowing in the wind left a massive subconscious impact.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Bob Dylan Live in The Marquee in Cork in 2011 left a profound and inspiring effect on me as a young teenager. The band was phenomenal and Bob sounded fantastic that night.

What was the first record you ever bought?

I bought three at the same time. Closing Time - Tom Waits, What's The Story Morning Glory - Oasis, Good Old Boys - Randy Newman. All are incredible albums and still listen to them on a regular basis!

What’s your favourite song right now?

God Help Me Now by Ellur. I’ve been listening to it flat out since it was released recently. It's catchy and hits a few uncomfortable but important topics that I really appreciate.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Sam Stone - John Prine. "And the gold rolled through his veins, Like a thousand railroad trains, And eased his mind in the hours that he chose, While the kids ran around wearin' other people’s clothes".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Martha - Tom Waits. This song completely blew my mind wide open. Still makes the hairs on my neck stand when I hear it.

Where can people find your music/more information?

Spotify, Bandcamp and all other major streaming platforms. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube - @KevinQuigleyOfficial.
