At the start of the interview, the actor-turned-foodie-favourite was told that it is customary for stars to profess their love of Ireland while visiting.

"I really do love Ireland," Tucci replied. "At the end of last year, I was here. I went to Dingle and to the literary festival there. It was just so beautiful and it turns out there's some friends there and it was just great. I've been to Ireland a number of times and it just makes me very happy."

"Have you eaten anything good here this time?" asked the presenter.

"I just got in a few hours ago, but I went to a bar here in Dublin and had a few oysters that were absolutely superb - from Conamara," Tucci enthused.

"I think the last time you were here there was talk of you going to one of our Italian Irish chippers - did you make it in the end?" O'Connor inquired.

"No, I didn't unfortunately," said Tucci.

"You need to check that out," O'Connor pressed. "A battered sausage might be something you'd like to try. Have you ever had a battered sausage?"

"A battered sausage?!" said a bemused Tucci. "Does that mean it's been beaten within an inch of its life?!"

"Pretty much, pretty much," agreed O'Connor. "And then cooked within an inch of its life."

During the interview, Tucci went on to discuss cocktails, risotto, and his love of Irish butter - also telling fans about a new culinary show he is making in Italy following the success of Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.

"It'll be called something different, we don't know what yet," he explained. "But I'm doing it with National Geographic, which is under the aegis of Disney+. We'll be doing that and BBC Studios are co-producing it with my company. It's very exciting. I've just finished filming the fifth episode. There are more to do, but it's been great."

"Stanley, it's been a real pleasure," O'Connor concluded. "I think we'll use you again. You're not a bad food contributor!"
