Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I'm Tom Walker, a singer songwriter born in Scotland, raised in Manchester who now resides in London. I have an unhealthy obsession with beanies and guitars and I've just released my second album, I AM.
How would you describe your music?
I'd probably describe my music as depressing with an undertone of hope. I love to write about real things that affect me and the people I love the most around me.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Too many to list really, but here's a few of the highlights: AC/DC, Paolo Nutini, Adele, B.B. King, Ray Charles.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
My first gig was AC/DC with my dad in Paris at nine years old.
What was the first record you ever bought?
I'm ashamed to admit this but it was the Bob the Builder soundtrack that I bought with my first bit of pocket money. Can he fix it, yes he can.
What’s your favourite song right now?
God Help Me Now by a fabulous singer-songwriter called Ellur.
Favourite lyric of all time?
I think Candy by Paolo Nutini is one of my favourite songs lyrically. The lines "I was perched outside in the pouring rain, trying to make myself a sail, Then I'll float to you, my darlin' with the evening on my tail, Although not the most honest means of travel, it gets me there nonetheless, I'm a heartless man at worst babe, and a helpless one at best"
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It's not really a song, more of a composition as it doesn't have lyrics. It would be The Journey by Tom Misch.
Where can people find your music/more information?
My new album I AM is out now. Follow me via my website or @iamtomwalker on my socials.
