The Coronas have jokingly offered their condolences to Sabrina Carpenter after their new album knocked her off the No 1 spot on the Irish charts.
The Irish band's eighth studio album Thoughts & Observations has become their fourth No 1 in a row, dethroning the pop superstar’s Short and Sweet.
Speaking on Friday, the Dublin trio said, "We’d like to send our condolences to Sabrina Carpenter. For the last five weeks her album has been number one in 250 countries but today Ms Carpenter is waking up to the news that this week it’s only 249.
"The people of Ireland have spoken, Sabrina, and, for one week only, they’ve chosen their hairy, 30-something year-old indie-rockers from Terenure to take the mantle!
"In all seriousness, this is really cool, thanks to everyone who got the album and a special thank you to our manager Jim and all the Coronas family for all their hard work - Love Knoxy, Conor & Danny."
Written in Dingle, County Kerry and recorded in Eastcote Studios in London, Thoughts & Observations features Lar Kaye of All Tvvins on guitar, Cian MacSweeney of True Tides on saxophone and Roisin O on backing vocals.
The Coronas play shows in the US and Australia before they return to play five sold-out gigs in December in the 3Olympia, Dublin and the INEC, Killarney on 28 December.
