Growing up in the UK during the 2000s, he was immersed in a rich tapestry of cultural sounds from his parents, particularly the romance of Bollywood and the energetic rhythms of Punjabi music.

This early exposure evolved as he discovered the burgeoning Indian-English fusion scene, led by pioneering artists such as Jay Sean, Dr. Zeus, and Raghav

Dilan releases his debut album next year.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Though I've been making music for a long time, my family and friends only found out last year because I wanted to reach a place where I was proud of the sound I was creating whilst also having the space to learn and fail. I have a HUGE phobia of mice and rats, a live-action Ratatouille is my greatest fear. The first time my dad heard one of my songs he thought it was a woman singing until I sang acapella.

How would you describe your music?

An everchanging blend of Pop and RnB, I think if you listened to my tracks you can really hear the progression so no two songs sound the same. I try to be vulnerable in my writing and tell real stories to evoke emotion. I've also been told my songs also have a nod to bygone eras if that's your thing.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Craig David, Justin Timberlake and Jay Sean.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My first gig was ironically the last gig of Push Baby (formerly Rixton).

What was the first record you ever bought?

As a child of the streaming era, I've never actually bought a physical record, though I do have vinyls (arrghhhh! - Ed) of some of my own tracks. I do remember though, as a kid, the first CD I was gifted was a Vengaboys album.

What's your favourite song right now?

Although I've been clinging onto Brat summer, I think it has to be Bed Chem by Sabrina Carpenter. It's really catchy but also a surprise as I hadn't heard her sing with a R&B style like this.

Favourite lyric of all time?

This is a really difficult one but I think Jealous by Labrinth is one of the best songs written, I really liked the opening verse and the way the first line sets the tone - "I'm jealous of the rain, that falls upon your skin, it's closer than my hands have been"

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Down by Jay Sean, it's the soundtrack to my childhood and has become my comfort song.

Where can people find your music/more information?

They can find me as Dilan Skies on all streaming platforms but for more of an insight in the creative process my Instagram @MusicByDILAN is the best place to follow me.
