Irish singer-songwriter Kevin Twomey, known for his work as the frontman of Bigger, has released Bloom Room, his debut EP as a solo artist. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about the EP's focus track, Roundabout, he says, "Sometimes we feel like we're going in circles, stuck on a kind of roundabout, searching for an exit.
"Roundabout is about staying strong and finding hope in the middle of life's uncertainty, about realizing that even when things feel stagnant, there is always the possibility of uplift."
Live performances of Bloom Room feature Twomey as part of a trio, alongside Amoureux on mellotron and acoustic guitar, and Philippe Lapierre on drums and saxophone.
Tell us three things about yourself . .
I’ve been living in France since 2010 and have been playing music around Europe since about 2012. I love adventure, melody and stories and poetry. I’m a songwriter bandleader singer guitarist you name it I’ll try it.
How would you describe your music?
I’d describe it as mellow acoustic folk rock with a slice of power and dissonance.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I suppose it’s a snowball effect of everything I grew up with a lot of Beatles and T. Rex, but also a lot of more modern stuff like Kevin Morby, big fan of Villagers, The early Beck stuff was a big influence on this first EP also huge a fan of Mac de Marco.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Metallica!! Ended up crowd surfing and couldn’t get down, a load of bikers turned me into their mascot, and became the rope in thug a war between them and the security guards!
What was the first record you ever bought?
A best of Glam cassette that was on sale in Golden Discs, I was five.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Hark hark, My Friend, Canon, Thunders Are Swelling by Philippe Cohan Solal.
Favourite lyric of all time?
