Life and Death in Gaza looks at four Gazans enduring the ongoing conflict, Joel McHale stars in comedy Animal Control, Mary Kennedy's back with Moving West and it’s caramel week on The Great British Bake Off . . .
Pick of the Day
Life and Death in Gaza, 9.00pm, BBC Two
This documentary looks at the experiences of four Gazans as they live through the ongoing conflict.
And it’s a film made by four young friends who are attempting to survive through extraordinary and extremely dangerous times.
Filming from the first days of the war, Khalid, Aya, Adam and Aseel document their own lives as they endure bombing raids, multiple evacuations, family separations and reunions, deaths, and even the birth of a new life amidst the chaos.
New or Returning Shows
Comedy following the lives of animal control workers in Seattle, starring Joel McHale, Vella Lovell, Michael Rowland, Ravi V Patel and Grace Palmer.
In the opening episode, Shred meets a wild weasel in an attic, and Frank slips a snack into Shred's back pocket as they approach a dozen ostriches.
This has got mixed reviews, but I've a soft spot for McHale from his days on The Soup and Community.
Got to be worth a look, eh?

Now entering its sixth season, Davina McCall (below) and Nicky Campbell revisit some of the most extraordinary searches to find out how lives have been transformed.

Mary Kennedy’s back for a third season looking at families who have moved - or are in the process of moving - to the west of Ireland.
For instance, Dr Lisa Guthrie has spent much of her life working away from her native Ballina in Mayo.
A former doctor with the Mayo senior football team, she is a consultant in emergency medicine in Mayo University Hospital and a physician with the Lincolnshire and Nottingham Air Ambulance.
She and her family have decided to settle back west. Plus, Sean and Louise Burnett, who bought their house in Kilmovee around 2014.

I Cut Off His Penis: The Truth Behind the Headlines, 9.00pm, UTV
Men of a squeamish disposition will probably give this is a miss – but I have to say that the premise is fascinating.
This documentary investigates cases of 'penicide', where a woman cuts off a man's penis, across the world.
Going beyond the tabloid headlines to hear the personal testimony of both women and men who have witnessed and felt the impact of this act, including the surgeons who re-attached the penises, and asking why this very specific act of violence is committed.
Don’t Miss
Vincent Van Gogh: Painted with Words, 9.00pm, BBC Four
Another chance to see this excellent drama-documentary depicting the Dutch painter's life using his own words as chronicled in 18 years of letters.
Presented by Alan Yentob, with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Vincent and Jamie Parker his brother Theo, who received the correspondence.
The story follows the artist's travels through Holland, Belgium, England and France, his religious zeal, the development of his artistic skill and the depression that plagued him for years until he committed suicide in 1890.
Storyville, 10.30pm, BBC Four
Here's another repeat well worth a look.
This is like something out of a spy novel. But it’s very real and very recent.
In August 2020, a plane travelling from Siberia to Moscow made an emergency landing. One of its passengers, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (below), was deathly ill.
Taken to a local Siberian hospital and eventually evacuated to Berlin, doctors there confirmed that he had been poisoned with Novichok, a nerve agent implicated in attacks on other opponents of the Russian government.
This documentary follows Navalny and his team as they unravel the plot against him, find evidence of the Kremlin's involvement, and prepare to go public with their findings.
The Great British Bake Off, 8.00pm, Channel 4

In the signature challenge the contestants craft some caramel biscuits before taking on a classic caramel technical.
