Pick of the Day

This Irish film – recently in cinemas – offers a look at the world of competitive cheerleading in Ireland.

This uplifting coming-of-age movie follows the young female and male athletes of Team Ireland to intimately explore questions of gender, strength, performance, sexuality and what it's like growing up in the world today.

Can Team Ireland reach their goal of top ten in the world, and can cheerleading give these athletes a space to find themselves?

Glamour queen Jessica; star athlete Jayleesa; Leaving cert student Bláthnaid; freedom-seeking Taylor; fun-loving Dean; and nice-guy Rickie are each searching for their place in the world through the activity they love.

As Hilton, their anxiety-crippled coach, battles to keep the team on track through a season of ill-discipline and injuries, we follow our underdog athletes’ journey to the World Championships in America.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, Netflix

This sort of stuff bores me to tears, but obviously millions will lap it up.

In the year 0079 of the Universal Century, the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation, plunging the two nations into war.

Thanks to a revolutionary new weapon known as a Mobile Suit, the Zeon Force initially gains the upper hand - but they lacked the power to take control of the entire Earth, bringing the war to a stalemate.

Eleven months into the war, the Earth Federation forces manage to seize a Zeon-controlled base located in Eastern Europe.

Among the mixed battalion headed to reclaim this base is Sorari and the Red Wolves division, a Mobile Suit platoon that has just descended from space.
