James Nesbitt and Paul Mescal are among the stellar line-up of film greats set to participate in this year's Fastnet Film Festival which promises to be "a dynamic and innovative celebration of film".
The event, which is taking place in Schull, west Cork from 22 May to 26 May, will screen many feature-length films and hundreds of short films in up to 15 venues.
Over the five days, festival-goers can expect to enjoy panel discussions, seminars and practical workshops with industry professionals covering all aspects of filmmaking.
Daisy Edgar-Jones, Peter Coonan, and Olivia Caffrey will also be partaking in the festival, while producers Ed Guiney and David Puttnam and directors Paddy Breathnach, Emer Reynolds, and Lenny Abrahamson, will be on hand to deliver their expertise.
The upcoming film festival is set to shine a spotlight on horror, with several spooktacular presentations in the works.
Feature presentations include Evil Dead Rise by director Lee Cronin, Double Blind by screenwriter Darach McGarrigle and The Little Stranger by director Lenny Abrahamson. Gerard Stembridge will also lead a Horror Symposium over the weekend.
Adding to the chilling theme, Nosferatu will be screened at Holy Trinity Church on Colla Road in Schull on 23 May. The film will be accompanied by a newly composed live score by Irene Buckley and Linda Buckley, with performances by Rhoda Dullea on organ, Ilse de Ziah on cello, and Karen Dervan on viola.
The event will also feature over 200 short films, 18 feature-length screenings, local interest films, outdoor cinema events, and a world cinema program with contributions from 40 countries including Scotland, Iran, Poland, Japan, Germany, India, Sardinia, and Portugal.
Rounding out the festival's offerings are fringe events across Schull, including café viewings, exhibitions, an Irish language day on Cape Clear, a movie quiz hosted by Oscar-winning duo Tom Berkeley and Ross White, live music, and family entertainment.
