Dark Matter, Apple TV+

This looks the business if you're into gripping, multi-layered stories where it takes a bit of effort to tell what’s going on.

Dark Matter is a science fiction series created by Blake Crouch, based on his 2016 novel of the same name.

It stars Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen, a college physics professor who lives in Chicago with his wife, Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and their son Charlie.

All's well in their world until daddy Dessen is warped into an alternate version of his life, leaving him to fight to return to his previous existence to prevent the alternate version of himself from harming his family.

Location, Location, Location, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Here’s a show that just goes on and on and on. And it's presented - as ever - by Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer (below).

And even though the properties are across the pond, Irish viewers can relate to UK house-hunters. It's a jungle there and here.

In this season 41 opener, Kirstie's with retired painters and decorators Amanda and Annette, who want a spacious bungalow in a serene setting to suit their futureproofing needs.

Eighteen months ago, Amanda was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, making both of them realise that they wanted to seize life and move to their dream forever home.

Kirstie shows them different options but by the end there's a clear winner. But can Kirstie secure it for them when it's 'offers over' their maximum budget.

Meanwhile, Phil helps first-time buyers Danit and Rafi, who are after a one-bed flat close to the buzz of Brighton and Hove.

Although they both agree that being close to the area's vibrant queer and Jewish communities is a top priority, Rafi wants Brighton and Danit prefers Hove.

All the flats Phil offers up are in contention and it soon becomes clear that their biggest challenge is agreeing on their preferred property.

Inside No 9, 10.00pm, BBC Two

This is the 9th and final season of the darkly twisted comic tales from the imaginations of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith.

Late-night passengers get stuck in a tunnel when their train breaks down. They wait for the replacement service until a nurse gets her purse stolen and tempers start to fray.

Secrets and Spies: The Nuclear Game, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Documentary about the tensions between East and West, which led to a spying game and an arms race that brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.

Featuring archive interviews with KGB spy Oleg Gordievsky, who turned double-agent and began working for the British.

Plus, a look at the unpublished letters of Michael Bettaney and interviews with former aides to Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.

Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir, 9.00pm, Sky Arts

The reinvention of Vic Reeves continues with season 2 of this series.

Jim Moir - that's his real name - and his wife Nancy (above) resume their ornithological adventure, journeying to different areas of the UK to spot and paint species of birds native to that region.

Along the way they meet ornithologists, local artists and a couple of Jim’s famous friends who will have a go at creating bird-inspired artwork.

In this opening episode, Jim and Nancy go in search of London’s high-rise residents, the Peregrine Falcons, meeting local experts, artists, and painting with pals Justin Hawkins and Mary McCartney.

It’s Real Madrid v Bayern Munich (KO 8pm) in the semi-final second-leg match at the Bernabeu.

The sides are deadlocked after last week’s first in Munich ended in a 2-2 draw, though it’s obviously advantage to the Spaniards with home advantage tonight.

Following last night’s 1-0 win away to PSG, Borussia Dortmund will provide the opposition in the Wembley Stadium decider.
