Bodkin is a new comic thriller set in Ireland, Sue Perkins hosts a new game show called Double the Money, Taskmaster continues, and there's the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest . . .

Pick of the Day

Bodkin, Netflix

Here’s something new and Irish.

This promises to be a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town.

The cast includes Will Forte as Gilbert Power, an American podcaster looking to discover his Irish roots, Siobhán Cullen as Dove, an investigative journalist from Dublin, and Robyn Cara as Emmy, Gilbert's podcaster assistant.

It also features David Wilmot, Chris Walley and Seán Óg Cairns.

But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.

As the show’s heroes try to discern fact from fiction about the case, colleagues, and themselves - the series challenges perceptions of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify beliefs or validate fears.

New or Returning Shows

Double the Money, 8.00pm, Channel 4

With such an alluringly greedy title, this show must have a chance of success.

It’s hosted by Sue Perkins, who explains it here:

Pairs of contestants receive a modest starting pot of seed money comprising £250.

As soon as they receive the cash the clock starts ticking and their mission is clear - double the money within the next exhilarating few hours or face elimination from the game.

The stakes get higher until one team ultimately wins a life-changing £20,000. Those taking part include father-and-son Dale and Harvey, competitive publicans Cath and Lynn, and best friends Radhika and Seema.

Don’t Miss

Live coverage of the second semi-final from the Malmo Arena, with commentary by Marty Whelan.

With Ireland already through from Tuesday’s first semi, this makes for pretty-much academic viewing – especially as you’ll be seeing and hearing tonight’s ten qualifiers on Saturday night’s Swedish showdown.

Though it will be interesting to see if the Israeli entry gets through given what’s been going on in Gaza and Russia ostracised.

Taskmaster, 9.00pm, Channel 4

John Robins demonstrates the power of his forearms, Steve Pemberton stains his shirt with orange juice and Sophie Willan repeatedly shouts the name of a body part in Alex Horne's little flustered face.

Taskmaster Greg Davies has his usual task of trying to award points for things such as Nick Mohammed constructing a bottle orchestra and our own Joanne McNally (above) trying to act out the word 'beer'.

Tonight, 10.45pm, UTV

People have always moved around Earth – but here’s a look at how technology is currently helping people to work and live where they want, rather than having to move to where work is available.

It's estimated that 3.5 million British people now work fully remotely, and with that number continuing to grow, more people are travelling abroad as digital nomads, combining their work with travel.

Chloe Keedy examines this new lifestyle and explores what the UK workplace looks like in the midst of a changing landscape for companies and employees alike.

The Lady in the Van, 9.00pm, BBC Four

A very English comedy-drama, starring a brilliant Maggie Smith, Alex Jennings, Roger Allam and Jim Broadbent.

It’s the true story of writer Alan Bennett's friendship with an eccentric homeless woman, whom he befriended in the 1970s before allowing her to park her dilapidated Bedford van outside his Camden home, where she ended up staying for 15 years.

Preceded at 8pm by Mark Lawson Talks to... Alan Bennett, where the Leeds-born playwright and author discusses his life and career, including The History Boys, Beyond the Fringe and the Talking Heads series of dramatic monologues, which also runs tonight on BBC Four

Johnson & Knopfler’s Music Legends, 9.00pm, Sky Arts

Streaming on NOW

Episode three of this new series sees Brian and Mark hook up with 1980s' pop icon Cyndi Lauper at New York’s legendary recording studio, The Power Station.
