Pick of the Day
Insomnia, Paramount+

McClure plays Emma Averill, a mother approaching her 40th birthday must investigate her past as she develops insomnia.
Her life has been disrupted by the arrival of her irresponsible sister Phoebe and is stressed out working as a custody lawyer. And there’s a buried childhood trauma that begins to resurface.
No wonder she can’t sleep!
New or Returning Shows
This show first appeared on Disney+ but if you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favour and tune in here.
Jesse Eisenberg and Claire Danes star in this hugely addictive and quite stunning tale of a middle-class Manhattan woman who vanishes, leaving her ex confused and caring for their kids.
At first you might dislike the characters - they can be very annoying and self-obsessed - but this show becomes compulsive as it reveals a story about ageing and coming to terms with life in your forties.
Eisenberg plays Toby Fleishman, who is divorced from his beloved but increasingly ambitious and difficult wife Rachel (Danes) after 15 years of marriage and two children.
The narrator of the show is Toby's college pal, Libby Epstein (Lizzy Caplan), married with two kids herself and living the seemingly undemanding – maybe unfulfilling - life of a suburban housewife.
And while Eisenberg and Danes are as good as ever, Caplan puts in a magnetic performance.
