"It's about learning to be patient, resilient and trusting that things will work out if you just give it time. Knowing that sometimes, all you have to do is wait."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I’m a major musical theatre nerd, you’ll rarely catch me without a couple Broadway classics in my Spotify playlists. I collect Dr Martens, if I’m on stage, it’s gotta be docs! I can sing the alphabet backwards.
How would you describe your music?
My music is an even mixture of folk and pop, with a little country vibe thrown in there too. Think Joni Mitchell meets early Taylor Swift. I write songs for the sad girlies who feel too much all at once, my songwriting might tug the heart strings a little. It’s perfect listening for long drives in the rain, and whenever you’re in your feels!
Who are your musical inspirations?
My music taste is very eclectic, so I take inspiration from so many different places! I grew up in the traditional Irish music scene, and so a lot of my songwriting and storytelling comes from what I’ve learned at sessions over the years. Songwriting legends like Luke Kelly and Dougie McLean definitely have had a major influence.

Nowadays, I take musical inspiration from great folk pop artists like Adrienne Lenker, Joni Mitchell as well as country legend Dolly Parton. Their songwriting is unmatched and is a big source of inspiration for me at the moment!
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Green Day in Kilmainham, still one of the best shows I’ve seen to date!
What was the first record you ever bought?
The Best Damn Thing - Avril Lavinge, still some of my favourite songs of all time, it literally is the best damn thing!
What’s your favourite song right now?
The song I’ve got on repeat lately is The Bug Collector by Hayley Heynderickx. It’s so beautifully written and arranged, and so catchy too!
Favourite lyric of all time?
That’s a tough question, how do I choose just one? For right now I’d have to choose a line from Noah Kahan’s No Complaints - "Yes I’m young, and livin’ dreams, In love with being noticed, and afraid of being seen." I think it feels very relevant to how a lot of musicians feel, wanting people to hear your music, while at the same time battling the fear of being perceived.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Definitely The Wizard & I from Wicked the Musical. I’m a theatre kid, and it’s always my go-to for easy listening!
Where can people find your music/more information?
You can find my debut single 'Wait’ now on Spotify at Just Alice. More music is on the way soon, I’ll be releasing my EP later this summer! You can find me on Instagram @__itsjustalice__ or TikTok @justaliceofficial, and everywhere else here.
