Behind the music - iNNUENDO

Irish art-rock newcomers iNNUENDO have released their new single, Clear Motion. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about the track, they say, "Clear Motion is a deeply emotional song, written from a stance of sentimental stubbornness, and aiming to light a spark inside the minds of those unable to accept the passions inside of them."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Ben: I am the tallest member of iNNUENDO, can occasionally be seen playing the guitar behind my head and am the best driver in the band (don't get in a car with Daniel, it’ll be the end of you).

How would you describe your music?

Daniel: Our music is a mad mix of all our different inspirations, metal and rock from John, Radiohead and Cocteau Twins from Ben and Nora and I’m a massive folk-head so it makes whatever kind of music it is we make.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Nora: I was obsessed with '60s/70s rock like The Beatles, David Bowie and Kate Bush (thanks to my dad), from a young age, but I moved on to darker and more complex music in my teens, such as Slowdive, Beach House, Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Country, New Road, and XTC.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

John: Walk the Moon in the Olympia, I went while I was on a date I went on in first year and I think I accidentally offended her mum in the car beforehand. We ended up sitting in one of the booths with her mum and her cousin sat behind us, terribly awkward point in my life.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Nora: I bought a tape cassette of ABBA’s The Visitors when I was eight to use on my dad's old Walkman, and Under Attack still hits me as one of my favourite songs of all time.

What’s your favourite song right now?

John: Probably Glacial Domination by Frozen Soul, it's a catchy death metal song by a newer band I hadn’t heard of before that blew me away when I saw them as the first band I saw at Bloodstock and found £5 in the pit, one of my favourite bands ever since.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Ben: Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Soul to Squeeze lyrics - "doo doo dingle zing a dong bone, Ba-di ba-da ba-zumba crunga cong gone bad." Leaves a tear in my eye every time I hear it.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Daniel: I honestly can’t choose one, I’ve had so many phases in my life and I am always looking for new music so I don’t know if I could cope listening to the same thing over and over again…

Where can people find your music/more information?
