New or Returning Shows

Lost Boys & Fairies, 9.00pm, BBC One

Created and written by Welsh writer Daf James, this is a three-part drama, starring Sion Daniel Young and featuring Maria Doyle Kennedy.

The series follows Gabriel, a singer and artiste-extraordinaire at Cardiff’s queer club-space Neverland and his partner Andy, as they adopt their first child.

But Gabriel has a history and he will need to embark upon a journey of self-discovery and attempt to repair his relationship with his dad before he can truly begin to parent 7-year-old Jake.

Football Cops, 10.00pm, Channel 4

This brand-new series follows the challenging work of officers from the UK Football Policing Unit.

Each professional club in Britain has a Dedicated Football Officer (DFO) who works under the radar to tackle the violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour of supporters.

These officers have never been shown until now and this is their story.

Filmed across the 2022-23 season, each episode takes viewers behind the scenes of the huge policing operation which goes into every game on every level of the sport.

In the first episode, Coventry City host Sunderland and the Coventry DFO has his hands full with a fixture that's become a grudge match due to an incident that happened 50 years ago.

Over at Manchester City, DFO Matt has Liverpool visiting, and is worried about ticketless fans trying to enter the Etihad.

And with Ipswich Town hoping for promotion, attendance is way up and DFO Roly has the challenge of new turnstiles and some of the largest home crowds they've seen.

The second episode of this four-part series will be available to stream on Channel 4 as soon as episode one has aired.

Vasa: The Ghost Ship, 9.00pm, BBC Four

Anyone who’s ever visited Stockholm has probably visited the fascinating and quite unique Vasa museum.

The Vasa, one of the most majestic galleons ever to put to sea, sank 18 minutes after leaving Stockholm harbour on her maiden voyage in 1628.

The loss of the Vasa was a major setback for Sweden’s ambitions to become a power in the Baltic during a turbulent period of European history.

Three centuries later, in 1961, the wreck of the Vasa was raised. Remarkably well-preserved by the mud and water in the Baltic Sea, she is a 17th-century time machine.

Following the work of archaeologists, divers and historians, this documentary plunges into Stockholm harbour to make new discoveries and reveal more about the lives of those who built, sailed and died on one of the most powerfully armed warships of her time.

D-Day: The Unheard Tapes, 9.00pm, BBC Two

This fascinating series continues as hundreds of thousands of Allied troops land on five beaches along the Normandy coast - as told by those who were there in interviews lip-synced by actors.

Powerful interviews with those who were there lead us through their story of the invasion as it unfolds.

American soldiers on Omaha face a bloodbath, while Royal Marine commandos encounter chaos at Sword Beach.

As night draws in, troops finally make it off the sand - but the threats ahead prove even greater.

D-Day, 10.00pm, BBC Four

This time, the focus is more on what could've happened, as well as the stark reality that war is organised chaos.

D-Day was the most decisive battle of the Second World War, yet things went badly wrong on Omaha Beach, and over 2,000 men lost their lives.

It could have been very different if a secret weapon designed especially for the invasion had made it to the beach.

This special one-off edition of Journeys to the Bottom of the Sea employs dramatic reconstructions to show what really happened.

The Fall Guy, Sky Store Premiere

Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu and Winston Duke star in director David Leitch’s action comedy.

And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.

What could possibly go right?

In 1927, Buckingham Palace informs Robert and Cora Crawley, the Earl and Countess of Grantham, that George V and Queen Mary will visit Downton Abbey during a royal tour through Yorkshire.

The occasion soon unleashes scandal, romance and intrigue - leaving the very future of Downton hanging in the balance.

Ending Today

Kingpins, 11.05pm, Channel 4

The final episode of this tense documentary series looks at UK's Crack-Cocaine Gangs.

Working-class gangs dominate northern England's crack-cocaine trade.

Ben Zand gets up close with gang members, uncovering the inner workings of their operations, including drug labs and weapon caches.

Zand takes a raw look at the impacts on the community, victims' stories, and the motivations behind the gang members' descent into crime and challenges their justifications and choices.
