Dublin pop artist Amelia Liz has released her new single, Lonely. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
Her work is inspired by the likes of Hayley Williams, Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, and speaking about her new track, she says, "I started writing this song because I would feel random bouts of loneliness - that's when I wrote the first part of the chorus.
"But then I was listening to my friends, and it seems to be a nightmare for them to find someone and while I was writing the song, I began writing it more so for them."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I love running and keeping fit. My confidence has definitely improved by just seeing how much I can push myself physically. I don’t drink alcohol but make up for that by eating lots of chocolate every day. I am a sensitive soul and will be the first one to cry watching a sad film.
How would you describe your music?
Each song tells a story. I try to make sure that what I write about is relatable, but that it always comes from a place of truth and stays authentic. I like to make catchy hooks. If someone told me they like Charli XCX or Mae Stephens, I would tell them to check out my music.
Who are your musical inspirations?
My inspirations change every year because I am obsessed with finding new music that I will love but for right now, it would have to be Lana Del Rey. I just love how poetic and dreamy her writing is.
What was the first Gig you ever went to?
Paramore.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Addicted by Zerb, The Chainsmokers and Ink. Always fires me up when I’m out for a run!
What was the first record you ever bought?
M!ssundazood by P!nk. A classic!
If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The Less I Know the Better by Tame Impala. It calms me down for some reason. Everything about this song is just so infectious. I can’t help but focus intently on it and forget about my surroundings. Magic!
Favourite lyric of all time?
"You've got the music in you, One dance left, This world is gonna pull through" - You Get What You Give - New Radicals.
Where can people find your music/more information?
