Darren Kiely, The Scratch, Róisín O, Dea Matrona and Oscar Blue are among the acts performing at what is being styled "Ireland's first gender-balanced festival" in Cullohill, Co Laois this July.

The Folly Festival will also include gigs by Jessica Doolan, Saibh Skelly, Paddy Keys, Dooley Brothers, Cullohil Comhaltas and the Garda Band and early bird tickets are available here.

The event takes place on 5 and 6 of July in Nancy’s Yard, near Cullohill Castle.

In selecting performers, Folly Festival say they actively promote gender-balance, selecting the lineup accordingly, with an equal number of male and female acts.

They first addressed the issue in 2018 in an industry where male artists outnumbered female artists 5:1 - a ratio which is mirrored throughout the music business’s industry’s engineering and production roles.

All proceeds from the Folly Festival are used by the Cullohill Community Council for Village renewal projects along with donations to local schools, clubs and societies.
