"It's Hozier!

"To see him do a show in Ireland, that opportunity doesn't present itself very often so I think it's worth it, absolutely."

Petra, who travelled from Germany, was determined to get a spot in the front row because "the energy is the best".

"The fans they're super dedicated so everyone is just singing the lyrics and feeling the songs and you get to really feel the energy of the band," Petra added.

Jill brought one of her paintings as a present for Hozier

Jill from Holland explained that she has had "quite a rough life" and that Hozier's music has helped her "get through situations" she never thought she would.

Wanting to show her gratitude, Jill has brought a beautiful painting which she hopes to give to Hozier during the concert.

"I wanted to make something to show my gratefulness for his music. I wanted to make something of art because his music is also art and to give it to him from one human to another human."

Julia Piraszewska, who has flown in from Canada, explained that there are a lot of like-minded people who queue early for a Hozier gig.

"It's such a nice community, it's very friendly, welcoming and accepting... It reflects on who Hozier is as a human being."

Hozier is due on stage at 8:20pm tonight in Marlay Park

With so many international fans travelling long distances to see Hozier, Becky Sage from Co Tipperary arrived at Marlay Park at 1am to ensure she also secured a coveted front-row spot.

"I arrived at 1am as I was very anxious that there were people travelling internationally to come here so we wanted to be here early to get barricade and hopefully see Hozier up close.

Gates are set to open around 4pm at Marlay Park, with Hozier due on stage around 8:20pm. There are three support acts, Ye Vagabonds are up first at 4.30pm, followed by Lord Huron at 5.25pm and Brittany Howard at 6.55pm.

This is Hozier's first Irish gig since he finally reached the No 1 spot in the Irish charts earlier this year with the song, Two Sweet, from his latest EP, Unheard.

Prior to that, his Irish chart peak was at No 2 with his debut single Take Me To Church in 2014.

The musician recently completed a string of US dates at huge venues including Madison Square Garden NYC, Red Rocks Amphitheatre Colorado and the Hollywood Bowl, LA.

Hozier is also due to play three sold-out gigs at Dublin's 3Arena this December.
