With less than 24 hours to go before the eagerly-awaited trailer for Gladiator II is unveiled, impatient fans can feast their eyes on the movie's official poster - featuring our very own Paul Mescal.
The 28-year-old Maynooth star takes the lead in the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott's original 2000 film, playing the role of Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen's Lucilla, and his fight for survival under the rule of tyrannical general Acacius (Pedro Pascal).
The new outing is set 20 years after the events of the original movie, with the estimated era for the sequel being 200 AD.
Last week, it was revealed that profits at the entertainment firm owned by one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors, Paul Mescal doubled to €309,051 last year.
Mescal recently said the training for his leading rolewas focused on making him look "big and strong" rather than "an underwear model".
In an interview with US publication Variety, Mescal said that his preparation for the demanding role centred around fight choreography rather than workouts designed to sculpt muscle.

"I just wanted to be big and strong and look like somebody who can cause a bit of damage when s*** hits the fan," he said.
"I think also, sometimes, one could, in striving for that perfect look, end up looking more like an underwear model than a warrior.
"Muscles start to grow, and that can be deemed aesthetic in certain capacities, but there is something about feeling strong in your body that elicits just a different feeling.
"You carry yourself differently.
"It has an impact on you psychologically in a way that is useful for the film."
Gladiator won five Academy Awards in a variety of categories, including for Best Picture, and Russell Crowe for Best Actor.
Gladiator II is set for release on 15 November 2024.
