Guud Grief draws inspiration from nature, the works of Rumi, and Nick Cave, Nina Simone, and Leonard Cohen.

"Music is a sacred force, and we want our songs to strip away the masks of superficiality," says Mark.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I sang for the first time three years ago and only started doing music a year after that! In my early 20s, I played football for St. Patricks Athletic. I recently sang Lay In The River to Candi Staton in her dressing room and she took my hand, laughed and told me that it was deep.

How would you describe your music?

Gully. Swampy and honest.
