She took her first steps into the world of music with her first public performance at the age six and in 2015 she began recording covers for her YouTube channel.

Nia has since worked with Irish artists including Chris Kabs and Jyellow and supported Negro Impacto and Toshin in concert. She is currently working closely with the TEMO World’s production team on music to be released in early 2025.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I come from a Brazilian-Angolan background, and I grew up speaking Portuguese. As a child, I used to play the saxophone and fiddle. I'm a very detailed person, in other words, a chatterbox. So, I've been told.

What was the first record you ever bought?

My first record was Destiny’s Child’s The Writing's on the Wall, I was gifted this album when I was four years old. Every single record I have was gifted to me, mostly by my dad.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Please, Pease, Please by Sabrina Carpenter. It’s been on loop the last three weeks.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"Nothing comes close to what we had, it perseveres" - Don't Forget About Us by Mariah Carey. Around the age 13/14 I started to listen more intentionally to music in general as I was now trying to develop my own song writing skills. One day I was listening to this song, maybe for the millionth time but this time it hit different. When I heard this line, it sparked the desire in me to write as well as this. A simple play on words, but it was almost as though a light bulb went off in my head and pushed my determination to become an impactful song writer. I too wanted to write smart and simple lyrics that impacted my listeners the way Mariah impacted me.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Doesn’t Mean Anything by Alicia Keys.

Where can people find your music/more information?

You can find my music on all streaming platforms, like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and many more. You can also find me on my socials: Insta @nia.keyo, Facebook, TikTok.
