The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed that Colin Farrell will reprise his role as The Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson in Reeves's next Batman film.
US entertainment publication Deadline reports that Reeves shared the news at Comic-Con in San Diego during a panel discussion for Farrell and Reeves's new HBO limited series The Penguin, which picks up where the 2022 blockbuster The Batman left off on the big screen.
The series will premiere on 19 September in the US and sees Farrell reprise his role as the DC Comics villain Oswald 'Oz' Cobblepot aka The Penguin.
Farrell, who is among the executive producers of The Penguin, joined the Comic-Con panel discussion remotely, saying: "The lore of this world held such an attraction for me."
He described The Penguin as an "incredibly tasty" character to portray.
At Comic-Con, a new trailer for the series from Warner Bros Television and DC Studios was also unveiled.
Earlier this year, Sky acquired the Ireland and UK rights to The Penguin ahead of its autumn premiere. It will screen on Sky Atlantic and Now TV in Ireland.
Speaking to Deadline, Katie Keenan, Sky's Group Director of Acquisitions, described The Penguin as "arguably DC's answer to The Sopranos".
"The Penguin will add to our roster of tentpole shows as we aim to provide our customers with the best US programming in addition to our impressive lineup of Sky original TV series and films," she added.
The sequel to The Batman is due to start filming early next year for an October 2026 release.
