Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I grew up in a small town in Cavan, called Bailieborough. This tends to surprise people because I kept my Dublin accent as I got older. I started playing music when picking up the piano after getting suspended from school for fighting and being willing to do anything except schoolwork at home.

How would you describe your music?

I struggle to describe it to be honest, but I used to tell people "imagine Slipknot and The Dubliners met at a hip hop gig in Dublin and then ended up at a rave." We have crossed the intensity and energy of the metal and dance scenes, thriving in Ireland right now, with my own brand of rap in a distinctly Irish accent. Our songs can be anything from Hardcore to Punk to Electronic and being a great live band and getting people moving at a live show is our main focus.

Who are your musical inspirations?

As a band our inspirations are all totally different, I think that adds to the beauty of what we do as we each unapologetically bring our own inspirations to the table but myself, I've been inspired growing up by the likes of Pink Floyd, Madness and David Bowie. And I would say my coming of age was mostly rap Odd Future, Hopsin, Clipping, Plan B.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Green day in Marley Park, I was fifteen and got separated from my friends. Somehow I managed to stumble into new friends and spent the whole night jumping around with a gang of lunatic metalheads from Limerick.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell. I was raised on good tunes, what can I say?

What's your favourite song right now?

Realistically my favourite song changes by the hour. My answer to this question though, has always been Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Or more accurately probably the Aslan cover of it. Christy Dignam just brought a whole new level of emotion to that track for me.

Favourite lyric of all time?

It’s actually a lyric from Wish You Were Here. It's the one line that made me sit back and think about the power of lyrics for the first time and made me start putting words together. "Would you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage."

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I might have to go out on a limb and say To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra. You could listen to Patrick Watson's voice on repeat all day and the composition is just beautiful.

Where can people find your music/more information?

People can find our music on any streaming service, music videos on YouTube and we try to keep everyone updated regularly on our Instagram, all info about gigs will be there. Find us using @idle.discourse. The best way to hear our music of all, is to simply catch us at a show.
