Star Trek: The Next Generation and Beef star Patti Yasutake has passed away at the age of 70.
The actress, best known for her portrayal of Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in Star Trek: The Next Generation, died on August 5 surrounded by loved ones following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Her death was confirmed on Tuesday by Kyle Fritz, her manager of over three decades, in a statement to Deadline. "Patti was my first client when I began over 30 years ago," he recalled.
"We enjoyed every day we got to work together, and I will miss her spirit talent and tenacity but most of all her friendship."
Originally from California , Yasutake grew up in Gardena and Inglewood and graduated with honours from UCLA's theatre programme.
She then began her acting career at the East West Players and made her big-screen debut alongside Ron Howard in Gung Go (1986).
Two years later, she bagged a role in The Wash, which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
From 1994 to 1996, she was a regular face on Star Trek adaptations, playing the character of Nurse Alyssa Ogawa.
Her filmography also includes Blind Spot, Road to Galveston, and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Most recently, she appeared as Fumi Nakai, George's mother in the hit Netflix series Beef.
