Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Up to the age of three, I lived in Athlone and Connemara. Dublin is my adult home. Books are my bed companions. I love walking outdoors. It helps the creative side to flow.
How would you describe your music?
My songwriting crosses genres from Celtic ballads to a more folk country style, musical drama, and church music. The emotional vocals are supported by piano, strings and hopefully low whistle.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I love the work of many songwriters, but the vocal delivery of Nanci Griffith, Sean Keane, Dolores O’Riordan, Anthony Kearns and Dolores Keane reach me.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
Meatloaf in the SFX Centre Dublin in the mid-80s. However, I heard all the hits through our bedroom, during the local carnival where all the showbands of the day performed for dances. That was magic as a child.
What was the first record you ever bought?

I’m unsure, but I bought many of Nanci Griffiths’ recordings. My brother, however, had I Don’t Want To Dance by Eddie Grant on repeat on his first ghetto blaster. My parents had abundant patience.
What’s your favourite song right now?
The Grey October Clouds by Tommy Mackem, which I am recording.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchel. It appeals to the dreamer in me.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
From a Distance by Julie Gold, sung by Nanci Griffith. Timeless.
Where can people find your music/more information?
YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, 7 digital Canada, and all major platforms.
Alan Corr
