It is reported that Domhnall Gleeson and The White Lotus's Sabrina Impacciatore are attached to star in a new US comedy series that is set "in The Office universe".

US entertainment trade publication Deadline reports that the planned series is not a reboot but "lives within the same world as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series".

Greg Daniels, who adapted Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's BBC series The Office for the US version, is behind the show alongside Michael Koman (Nathan for You, Late Night with Conan O'Brien).

"Daniels has indicated that a new Office iteration could follow a crew doing a documentary about a different subject," Deadline adds.

Universal Television, which was among the producers of The Office in the US, declined to comment on the story, "other than to confirm that the project remains in development".

Gleeson worked with The Office star Steve Carell on the psychological thriller series The Patient. Together with another Office star, John Krasinski, the Dubliner is part of Guy Ritchie's upcoming film Fountain of Youth.
