Behind the music - Snõõper

admin admin | 08-22 16:15

Nashville indie garage band Snõõper play The Workman's Cellar, Dublin on 7 September. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Tickets priced €18.00 inclusive of booking fee are on sale now here.

Snõõper began as a collaboration between local Nashville punk mainstay Connor Cummins and Blair Tramel, an early education teacher with a sideline in animation and art.

Their live shows feature puppets, 8-bit animation, papier-mâché, whistles, and flashing lights.

Snõõper, who count Henry Rollins as their biggest fan, have released three 7" records: 2020’s Music For Spies, the Snõõper EP released in 2021 and last year’s Town Topic EP.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

We are from Nashville, TN and this is our first time in Ireland! Our bassist works a grocery store called Trader Joes. Contrary to popular belief I (Connor) think the self-titled Thin Lizzy LP might be their best…

How would you describe your music?

Like a YouTube video of someone's homemade reenactment of the movie A Bug’s Life with music scored by the director’s younger brother who "is pretty good at guitar" played at 3.5x normal speed.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Ramones, Koro, Modern Warfare, The Nerves, Devo, Die Kreuzen, Kodak Black, Nausenbluten, Suburban Lawns, Avril Lavigne, etc.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Blair: NSYNC.

Connor: Some local metalcore band at the Lamplighter Pub in Tifton GA

What was the first record you ever bought?

Blair: Gorillaz - Demon Days.

Connor: Poison Idea - Darby Crash Rides Again (I thought it was The Germs)

What’s your favourite song right now?

Blair: Teezo Touchdown - Third Coast.

Connor: Ministry - Work For Love.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Blair: "Pay me just to party and I’ll show up in my PJ’s" - Coco & Clair Clair.

Connor: "Whatcha doin? Chewin Chocolate. Where’d ya get it? Doggy dropped it" - Butthole Surfers.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Connor: Darude - Sandstrom (10 hours - Seamless Loop).

Blair: Sarah - Ween.

Where can people find your music/more information?

On the insert in our LP, talking to us at a show, on the internet, Discogs.com, etc.
