Oasis back with a bang but girl power rules new Irish music charts

Following news of their reunion tour, Oasis albums have shot up the new Irish album chart, while female acts dominate the new singles chart with nine out of the top ten positions.

Oasis best of Time Flies: 1994-2009 has leapt 34 places to No 3 on the album chart, while (What's The Story) Morning Glory has hit No 6, up 72 places from last week.

The band's debut album, Definitely Maybe, has shot up 77 places to No 7.

Meanwhile, on this week’s new singles chart, female acts have taken nine out of the top 10 slots with Sabrina Carpenter taking No 1 with her song Taste and No 2 with Please Please Please.

She is also new at No 9 with her track Chem Bed. Fast-rising US star Chappel Roan takes two spots in the top 10 and Billie Eilish is also flying high.

Carpenter pipped Fontaines D.C. to the No 1 album spot with her new album Short N’ Sweet, leaving the Irish band at No 2 with their acclaimed fourth album Romance.
