Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm a jazz pianist, improviser, composer and music fan.

How would you describe your music?

Improvised acoustic jazz music based on piano trio tradition influenced by great American jazz, European classical music, contemporary music and pop culture.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Keith Jarrett, Tomasz Stanko, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Paul Bley, Ahmad Jamal and many more.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Gene Harris and Marlboro Super Big Band at Jazz Jamboree Festival ’89 in Warsaw.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Chick Corea Akoustic Band, the first album by the Chick Corea Akoustic Band.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Buona Sera performed by Louis Prima. The song was written by Carl Sigman and Peter De Rose and was a huge hit for Louis in 1956.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Here’s to Life performed by Shirley Horn. She won a Grammy Award for the album of the same name, from which it is taken.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

What’s Going On by Donny Hathaway (Live).
