Man arrested, firearms and drugs seized in Taumarunui

A gang associate has been arrested and firearms, drugs, and cash have been seized following a search at a home in Taumarunui last week.

Police last week found over 2kgs of cannabis, 10g of methamphetamine, $7000 in cash, four firearms and other items of interest following the search.

Senior Sergeant Grant Alabaster said the arrest was "the result of a lengthy investigation by local police".

A 53-year-old Taumarunui man is due to appear in the Taumarunui District Court on May 16 charged with possession of cannabis, possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Further charges are being considered, Alabaster said.
