With the evocative theme The Garden of Time, the Met Gala 2024 has provided the A-list guest list ample opportunity to go all out, and our own Samantha Barry did just that with her gala ensemble.

Coordinated with the Costume Institute's exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, the gala theme is inspired by the 250 items that have been pulled from the Institute's permanent collection for this year's exhibit, including some that have been rarely seen in public before.

The gala has become one of the most anticipated events on the fashion calendar, and was established in 1948 as a means to fundraise for the Institute.

As the main source of funding for the institute's annual exhibitions and acquisitions, the star-studded benefit celebrates the opening of the spring exhibition - all under the watchful eye of Anna Wintour.

Co-chaired by the Vogue Editor-in-Chief since 1995 (excluding 1996 and 1998), the gala has become one of the most visible and successful charity events, drawing attendees from the worlds of fashion, film, society, sports, business, and music.

Glamour editor-in-chief and Cork native Barry stepped out wearing a dazzling gown by The Atelier, which featured a form fitting corset bodice embellished with silver detailing, that flared out in a peplum hem over her skirt. The skirt, meanwhile, was made of layers of tulle and accented with floral appliques.

She accessorised with shoes by Jimmy Choo, a clutch bag by Judith Leiber and stunning drop earrings by Margot McKinney. She added a final touch of romance with a floral headpiece.

Her glam, meanwhile, was rich and romantic, with a pink-hued eyeshadow and a delicate nude lipstick.
