The BAFTA Television Awards 2024 took place this evening in London's Royal Festival Hall on May 12, 2024, with a bevy of stars of the big and small screen attending the glamorous ceremony.
Ireland was well represented on the red carpet with Laura Whitmore, Maura Higgins, Sharon Horgan, Niamh Moriarty, Roisin Gallagher, Éanna Hardwicke, and Máiréad Tyers in attendance.
Attending the ceremony with Scottish husband Iain Stirling, Whitmore dazzled in a Gucci gown that she described as having a "great story".
Taking to Instagram to share snaps of the Gucci sequin gown by Parisian atelier Guy Laroche, she explained that the piece was the exact gown from the Fall/Winter 2007 runway.
"It has a one shoulder finish, with a V neckline to both front and back, complete with original zip closure and hook and eye fastening. Lined in black silk chiffon, the main fabric of the dress is heavily embellished with a purple geometric sequin design, which catches the light beautifully as it moves.
"The waist and lower sections of the dress are broken up by black mesh detail, which is slightly transparent. The hem is also made up of the same black mesh fabric, reflecting the panels at the waist.
"The dress itself has an incredible weight to it and hangs beautifully on the body. French designer Guy Laroche designed practical, haute couture garments throughout the 1950s up until his death in 1989."
Elsewhere on the red carpet, Maura Higgins stunned in a black gown from Drenusha Xharra, a high fashion brand based in Kosovo.
Extraordinary star Máiréad Tyers looked, well, extraordinary in an off-the-shoulder gown with ruffle detailing.
The Irish woman donned an Artists4Ceasefire enamel pin as did Éanna Hardwicke, star of BBC's The Sixth Commandment. The actor wore a Paul Smith suit with a custom Completedworks tie pin.
Styled by Rachel Davis, Sharon Horgan looked exceptionally stylish in a one-shoulder Vivienne Westwood number. Her Best Interests co-star, Niamh Moriarty, shone in a blue dress Susan Fang x & Other Stories, which stylist Corina Gaffey styled with earrings from Om Diva Boutique. Moriarty's colourful wheelchair covers are from Irish brand Izzy Wheels.
Roisin Gallagher, star of Sky Atlantic's The Lovers, chose a chic black gown featuring a dramatic ruffle climbing over one shoulder.
