One of New Zealand’s America’s Cup rivals have suffered a major blow while training in Barcelona.
Alinghi Red Bull Racing had the mast snap on their AC75 while performing a bear away move in 20-knot winds.
Co-general manager of Alinghi Red Bull Racing Silvio Arrivabene said the boat is back at the docks and they are recovering the mast.
“Everybody on board is safe, which is the most important thing. The boat is already back ashore which will allow us to quickly assess the cause of the failure,” said Arrivabene.
