SH1 Marlborough crash victim named as man from Kiribati

Police have released the name of the person killed in a fatal crash on State Highway 1 in Marlborough last Thursday.

He was 37-year-old Kaiea Taubakou, from Kiribati.

The crash occurred near Grovetown shortly before 7am, and involved a van and a truck.

Three other people were seriously injured and were taken to hospital.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and inquiries were ongoing to determine the circumstances of the crash.
