Your morning Olympics catch-up on the action you might've missed from overnight, and a look behind the scenes at what’s going on in Paris.
K4 500 golden girls
What more can Dame Lisa Carrington do to enhance her already glittering legacy? Well, another Olympic gold medal will do it.
With teammates Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan, the women’s team claimed New Zealand’s first ever women’s K4-500 gold in emphatic fashion.
It’s an event that’s been elusive for New Zealand – the men’s ‘dream team’ won gold in 1984 in Los Angeles – but that all changed with the women’s world championship win last year.
For Carrington, she’s now won a staggering six Olympic gold medals, and seventh medal overall.
And don’t forget, she’s still got a couple of races left before the week is out.
Marseille multihull magic
Sailors Erica Dawson and Micah Wilkinson finished eighth in their final, enough to snatch the bronze medal in the nacra mixed-multihull on points.
Great Britain was their closest competition heading into the race, but they were disqualified for a false start.
They’ve been racing together since the 2016 Rio Games – and were visibly emotional after the medal was clinched.
Wesche's shot at glory
Maddi Wesche is through to the shotput finals, after launching a 19.25m throw.
The World No. 7 stepped up wearing her trademark sunglasses and continued her hot run of form – a couple of weeks after smashing her personal best in Germany.
She’ll have a shot at glory tomorrow morning NZT.
Do you know the muffin man?
Weightlifter David Liti’s the latest Olympian to review the now-famous triple-chocolate muffins in the Olympic village.
The dessert was catapulted into the spotlight by Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen, whose videos about the muffins are clocking millions of views on TikTok.
