Leinster look set to hand RG Snyman a debut this weekend when they take on Benetton in the BKT URC.

The South African second row moved from Munster last summer but has been sidelined with a foot injury for the opening rounds, missing wins over Edinburgh and Dragons.

Down in the 'further assessment required' column in Leinster’s injury bulletin, senior coach Jacques Nienaber suggested the 29-year-old is ready to go providing he gets through the rest of the week’s training.

"We hoped that we could get him in in round two last weekend but we didn't want to rush him.

"Yes, he had a good training today and he looks comfortable, like he did last week but we just managed his load and his return-to-play according to the guidelines we got from the medical team.

"Hopefully everything goes well for him this week. I’m sure he’s very keen to play."

Dan Sheehan, Jack Boyle, John McKee, Paddy McCarthy and Tommy O’Brien remain out.

Leinster have maximum points after two rounds but Nienaber, who joined Leinster in December after winning two World Cup with the Springboks, said there are a lot of things to work on.

They conceded five tries in the two-point win over Edinburgh, while it took more than 46 minutes to move more than a score clear of Dragons during the 34-6 win at the Aviva Stadium.

"Two months ago if you gave me a contract that in the first two games, Edinburgh away and Dragons here, we’d have ten points I probably would have signed the contract," said the 51-year-old defence specialist.

"From a results point of view that’s what we wanted to achieve but... there’s a lot of stuff we still need to work on."

The following week Leo Cullen's men host Munster at Croke Park.
