Rhasidat Adeleke ran a wind-assisted sub-11 second time to win the women's 100m final at the Texas Invitational.

The Tallaght sprinter ran a time of 10.84 seconds to finish 0.1 clear of American Celera Barnes and 0.26 ahead of third-place finisher Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, who was a world champion over 200m in 2019 and a European 100m champion in 2018.

Julien Alfred, the reigning world indoor champion over 60m, was fourth in 11.15.

Adeleke's official personal best time over 100m is 11.31 which is an Irish national U20 and U23 record, while Sarah Lavin's senior record over the distance, set in Switzerland last year, stands at 11.27.

With wind-assistance noted at 3.5 metres per second which is above the 2.0 limit, Adeleke's time will not count towards records.

The 21-year-old does hold national records over 200 and 400m and has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
