Cavan GAA has tabled a motion for this Saturday's Central Council meeting requesting to reverse an earlier decision to eliminate all pre-season tournaments from the schedule in January.
This would involve the Dr McKenna Cup in Ulster, the O'Byrne and McGrath Cups in Leinster and Munster respectively, and the FBD League in Connacht.
With the new rules top of the agenda at the moment, the feeling is that it would provide a competitive environment to implement and experience the rules further.
The would give county teams much needed practice with any of the proposed rules that may be adapted at the Special Congress at the end of November and before the start of the Allianz Leagues.
From a financial point of view, it could also be beneficial to the counties involved.
It is anticipated that many of the other Ulster counties will support the Cavan motion.
However, there are other counties and possibly other provinces that may not be in favour of the motion.
