Athlone dominate nominees lists for Women's Premier Division awards

Athlone Town dominate the shortlists for the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division awards, including three nominees for the outstanding player accolade.

Madison Gibson, Roisin Molloy and Laurie Ryan are up for Player of the Year.

Katie Keane is among the nominees for Young Player of the Year while former boss Ciarán Kliduff in the mix for Manager of the Year.

Shelbourne also have strong representation, with Maggie Pierce and Pearl Slattery nominated for the best player, while Eoin Wearen is in for the manager award following a season where they won the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup.

Galway United have Julie-Ann Russell in the running for the Player of the Year, Kate Thompson is in contention for the Young Player of the Year and Phil Trill is up for the Manager of the Year after they enjoyed success by retaining the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, 3 December ahead of the Euro 2025 play-off second leg between Ireland and Wales.
