Aaron Hill's Crucible dream ended by Matthew Selt, Noppon Saengkham hits 147

Aaron Hill's bid to reach the World Snooker Championships has been ended by Matthew Selt on a 10-3 scoreline in Sheffield.

The Cork man had battled to put himself in with a shot overnight, as he trailed 4-3 in their third round qualifier. Hill then won this afternoon's opening frame but that would be as good as it got.

World number 35 Selt took control of the match, winning six frames on the spin with three breaks over 60 and he'll now face Joe O'Connor for a place at the Crucible.

Earlier in the qualifiers Fergal O'Brien's career came to an end after his defeat to Mostafa Dorgham in the first round, while Ken Doherty lost out to Marco Fu in his second round qualifier.

Elsewhere on Monday, Thailand's Noppon Saengkham hit a 147 as he cruised into the final round of qualifying.

Saengkham’s maximum came in the 10th frame of his match against Andy Hicks at Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport, and he went on to record a 10-5 victory.

He next faces Welshman Jackson Page for a place in the main tournament, which begins at the Crucible in Sheffield on Saturday.

Former world champion Neil Robertson is also in sight of a Crucible spot after beating Zak Surety 10-2.

Robertson led 7-2 overnight and breaks of 90 and 117 meant he quickly finished the job.
