Athlone Town and Shelbourne could meet in the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup final for the third time in succession after the semi-final draw saw the top two teams in the Premier Division avoid each other once again.

The sides have met in the 2022 and 2023 deciders with one victory each.

Town won last year's clash on penalties.

Today's draw sees Sligo Rovers facing Athlone in a repeat of last year's semi-final.

Tommy Hewitt's side have yet to win in the league this year but surprised DLR Waves last week to book a place in the last four.

Hewitt will come up against his former team once again in The Showgrounds.

The other semi sees Shels host Cork City at Tolka Park.

City are enjoying an improved league campaign and will travel to Dublin plotting an upset.

Both sides reached this stage with winning goals in the 120th minute in the quarter-finals against Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers respectively.

Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup semi-final draw:

Sligo Rovers v Athlone Town

Shelbourne v Cork City

Matches to be played 20-22 September
