LAHORE:

Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore Chief Commissioner Ahmad Shuja has emphasised that businessmen and traders must comply with tax regulations and assured them that taxmen would provide maximum support in the process.
Speaking at an awareness session on filing income tax returns, organised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in collaboration with RTO Lahore on Tuesday, he highlighted the benefits of submitting tax returns on time.
“The response from Lahore taxpayers is marvelous and encouraging,” the chief commissioner remarked, adding that the number of tax returns was increasing in the Lahore region.
Around 180,645 tax returns were received from October 1 to 20, 2024 as compared to just 69,061 returns filed during the same period of 2023, marking an increase of 111%.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad praised the chief commissioner for his collaboration and vowed that the chamber would create awareness of tax compliance in the business community.
He stressed that timely filing of income tax returns was not only a legal obligation, but also a means of contributing to the national economy.
LCCI Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry underlined the need for simplifying tax procedures for the business community.
He appreciated the chief commissioner’s commitment to addressing individual concerns and encouraged the attendees to actively participate in the session.
The workshop included a detailed presentation by RTO officials on the step-by-step process of filing income tax returns along with a question and answer session where participants raised their specific concerns. Topics such as tax exemptions, online filing and penalties for late submissions were thoroughly discussed.
