Progress on Tarbela 5th Extension reviewed

ISLAMABAD:

WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), on Tuesday, reviewed progress on the under-construction project at 1530 MW-Tarbela 5th Extension, according to a press statement.

The chairman undertook a detailed visit of key sites, which included the raised intake, the tunnel and power house, and observed the construction work taking place. During the on-site briefing, the chairman was briefed about the milestones achieved thus far. Temporary support work in the tunnel has been completed, allowing for construction to begin on the connecting tunnel. Equipment installations, including draft tubes for Units 18, 19, and 20, are underway at the Powerhouse Site. Additionally, the contractor is prepared to resume work on the Raised Intake structure once reservoir water levels recede to the required point.
