LAHORE:

United Business Group (FPCCI-UBG) Patron-in-Chief SM Tanveer has appealed to the government to announce a comprehensive winter package for all industries to mitigate the challenges faced by the sector.

However, the UBG cautioned that any conditional eligibility criteria tied to the incremental electricity consumption last year would unfairly exclude many industries.

"Several units did not have gas supply connections and thus relied on electricity consumption alone, making it impossible for them to meet the condition of incremental usage," Tanveer explained.

Therefore, he said, the UBG demands that the government offer a special winter power tariff package without conditions of any incremental usage over earlier consumption, ensuring equal access to all industries. This inclusive approach will boost employment and economic stability.

"We urge the government to prioritise the well-being of the entire industry, rather than creating unnecessary distinctions," Tanveer emphasised.

He assured the government of remaining committed to collaborating with it to promote Pakistan's economic growth and industrial competitiveness.
