You are never more conscious of the ferocious power of Irish weather than when crouched in a tent during heavy rainfall. When indoors, we nearly always assume our enclosures are weather-proofed. This confidence disappears in a tent, where we actually feel the weather's onslaught. As the wind swells, sides billow, and percussive rain hammers outside, you beg the precarious shelter: "Please don't fail me."
