Taoscadh ón Tobar: the Italian musician playing Irish fiddle music

admin admin | 05-15 00:15

Musician and academic Andrea Palandri began visiting Ireland from his native Italy in his teens. He became fascinated with traditional Irish music and the Irish language, and developed a particular interest in the fiddle playing of Paddy Cronin, Denis Murphy and in the bowing techniques of Pádraig O'Keeffe.

As part of the Irish Traditional Music Archive’s series Drawing from the Well, TG4 has a new series called Taoscadh ón Tobar where five new artists uncover the stories of significant musicians, singers, collectors, and regions.

In one episode, Andrea Palandri traces the life and music of Sliabh Luachra fiddle master and teacher Pádraig O’Keeffe, meeting musicians and researchers who have followed Pádraig's life and uncovers previously unheard recordings.
