Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has apologised for an on-stage fight during the band's show in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday night, describing his behaviour as "inexcusable".
The concert at the Leader Bank Pavilion was abruptly cut short by the Los Angeles-formed rockers after Farrell threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro.
In a statement shared with US entertainment trade publication Variety by a representative, Farrell said: "This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday's show.
"Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation."
Earlier on Monday, the legendary act announced that they were cancelling their US tour and going on hiatus following the incident.
A statement announcing the cancellation read: "To all the fans. The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.
"Refunds for the cancelled dates will be issued at your point of purchase - or if you purchased from a third-party resale site like StubHub, SeatGeek, etc, please reach out to them direct. Thank you, Jane's Addiction."

In another statement, guitarist Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins said they had "come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour".
The musicians said their concern for Farrell's "personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative".
Signing off, they said: "Our hearts are broken. Dave, Eric and Stephen."
Known for songs including Jane Says and Been Caught Stealing, Jane's Addiction have a cult following and are hailed as alternative rock pioneers.
They have released four studio albums - Nothing's Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003), and The Great Escape Artist (2011) - and in 2013 the band were honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In June, they played Trinity College Dublin as part of the Summer Series concerts.
