The first trailer for the Oscar-tipped epic historical drama The Brutalist has been released ahead of the film's arrival in Irish cinemas in the New Year.

Directed by Brady Corbet (The Crowded Room, Vox Lux, The Childhood of a Leader) and co-written by Corbet and his partner and longtime writing partner Mona Fastvold, The Brutalist stars Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, and Alessandro Nivola.

The synopsis for The Brutalist reads: "Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth (Adrien Brody) arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet (Felicity Jones) after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes.

"On his own in a strange new country, László settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce) recognises his talent for building. But power and legacy come at a heavy cost..."

The Brutalist won the Silver Lion among a number of awards at the Venice International Film Festival in September.

The Brutalist is released in cinemas on Friday 24 January 2025.
